Building Data-Informed Cultures
In a sea of spreadsheets and stats, schools often find themselves data-rich but action-poor. It’s hard to not only figure out what the data is actually telling us, but then, what to do about it, and how?!
We believe in being student-driven and data-informed, and we can help you get there: turning confusing spreadsheets into crystal-clear action plans. Because data should illuminate your path forward, not leave you lost in a statistical fog.
How does it work?
In a nutshell, we’ll help you analyze your data in the context of your unique goals and values. We can help both at the district and/or school level, and we can work with individual teachers to focus on their students’ data.

At the district/school level, first we’ll help you look at how you interact and engage with data. We:
-
Assess beliefs: Understand what your district/school and stakeholders believe about data
-
Examine values: Identify the guiding principles for data use
-
Understand norms: Observe how data is used and shared
-
Inventory resources: List data sources, quality, and tools
-
Analyze spaces: Identify where data is stored, shared, and used
Next, we’ll work together to develop a clear roadmap for what shifting to a more data-informed learning culture means for your district/school. This could include:
-
Creation and implementation of a personalized data dashboard that highlights the most important key performance indicators with visualizations.
-
Data conversations with school leaders and teachers that lead to instructional actions.
-
Creation and implementation of a Professional Development program that engages teacher teams in the creation of an instructional problem of practice and a detailed action and progress monitoring plan.
At the teacher level, we provide 1-on-1 data coaching, where we:
-
Meet with teachers regularly throughout the year to unpack student data, providing them with opportunities to talk freely and honestly about their challenges, and troubleshoot and strategize.
-
Help teachers make connections between data visualizations and actual interventions and strategies backed by research to improve student performance.
-
Provide written recaps for each teacher and school leader, to help ensure accountability and transparency around the work and the likely outcomes that we can generate.
What will you get out of it?
-
A better understanding of your school’s data: we’ll guide you in understanding and prioritizing your most valuable data.
-
A plan for what actions you should take based on the data: we’ll help you use the data to create plans that’ll support teachers and students and ultimately improve your school.
-
A commitment to remaining student-led and data-informed: we’ll help you use the data as just one piece of the puzzle, while still prioritizing other key factors.
